Justin Hatchett has been named head coach at Southern High School.

Coach Justin Hatchett is a Warren Central grad and played wide receiver at Kentucky State in the early 00s. He's been on the assistant coaching staff at Southern for the last few seasons and spent several years on the coaching staff at Caverna High School prior to that. He has been the assistant head coach under Mike Gossett, who is retiring from Southern after spending the last 7 seasons as head coach of the Trojans.

My understanding is that Coach Hatchett is very well respected among the Southern students and players, and should provide some solid continuity for the Trojans, whose 6-4 record in 2021 was the first winning season for the program since 2003. Coach Gossett was named the 6A District 4 coach of the year by the KFCA this year.
