Cooper 57 Dixie 47

Was a fast tempo game in which each team tried to find control during a first half that was a grind and foul fest. Cooper ultimately looks very strong with Liz Freihofer and Kay Freihofer in possession of the ball.  Logan Palmer impacted the game in multiple areas of the game and Maleah Alexander is a defensive workhorse.  Whitney Lind was able to pick up in other spots.  Big entrance by 7th grader Haylee Noel. Coach Holthaus has a squad for sure!

Dixie looked early season discombobulated, struggling to find control including an irritated coaching staff.  Lawson and Berman had moments but it just wasn't flowing for them.  A tough opener for a team trying to figure out a new identity.

Anyone have the stats on this game?

Haylee is one of about 6 or 7 seventh graders that are entering the high school basketball scene this year, and will be on everyone's radar for the next 6 years.  In truth, Haylee is probably the best of the bunch, but I'd take any of them on my team.  She is a really skilled player, can handle it, has a nice midrange game, and plays really hard.

This Cooper team's top 7 or 8 players are as good as anyone's, if the Freihofer's can stay healthy, Maleah can knock down an open shot or two, and Whitney Lind can be Whitney Lind, this team has a very real shot at getting out of the 9th (with Ryle and NDA).  Going to be fun.

Dixie is going to have to win games on grit, defense, effort, attitude, and 2nd chance points -- and they will win a LOT of them with that exact recipe.

I do think Dixie was missing Buddenberg, she’s probably one of the top 2 or 3 freshman in NKY. She’s a very good player on both ends. Not saying that changes the outcome of this game at all but Dixie will be a much better team with her in the lineup.
