What game was you watching? Breathitt's Allen made play after play to keep Breathitt in the game against Leslie. Even Leslies Coaches said that was the better game of the 2 that he played against them. He had a 4th & 1 stop to keep the game alive. I believe he put the center in the back field, hit Ryan Howard about 3 yards deep, caused a fumble and Breathitt recovered. To be honest I have never seen a team trap block a nose gaurd like Leslie did that game. There wasn't a game all year that he was "shut down". Double team, triple team, trap block, at the end of the day he always put up the effort. Thats why he is first team all-state defense.

What aboout Josh Sanders, #18? He really helped the team out last year. Seems he had 12 or 13 td's by seasons end.

Very very true.

I love watching him run the ball, very gritty guy he fights tooth and nail for that extra yard evey single time.

For Prestonsburg:

QB Bobby Hughes - began signal calling as a Soph. Throws an accurate, very catchable ball. Runs smart (though not fast).

RB's Seth Setzer and Allen Craynon - Both will be Juniors and were 2/3 of the surprisingly good '06 Blackcat backs.

Prestonsburg has a chance to be very good in the 2nd half next year. A lot of youth will be on the defensive and offensive lines, so it will take time for them to work it out.

Also, the injury bug must be avoided on key players. The Blackcats were decimated at the end of the '06 campaign.

COV HC will be very exciting this year, they have some very good talent on defense this year. D line, Pat Mier,Erick Oldegis, Robert Walker, Mike Sullivan, LB, Brad Herald, Tyler Darple, phillip More, C, Brad Cooper, FS, Jeff West.

I think it will be a lot better in this new 2A class, there will be a more consistent competition every week.

For Newport I expect Wilfong, Oden, and Brewer to be the main contributors.

Bardstown returns several excellent players, including TB Kelvin Scott, an Honorable Mention All-State selection, C Jeremy Gesser, also Honorable Mention All-State, and LB's Ted Mattingly and Rashaun Phillips.

Dont forget even with those talented players coming back Bardstown even returns 4/5 starting OL. They could be a test for teams next year.

I believe Evan Walker from Owensboro Catholic will have a productive year. He had surgery on his shoulder, but from indications his re-hab is going well. Also Logan Bell from Owensboro Catholic. Big strong D-Lineman.

Looks about right to me, onei, and I believe the younger boys are working hard to get ready to play this fall. And, like you, I look for the juniors to make a much-needed contribution, and I think a good number of soph's may start again as well. The basketball players are getting their work in, and it shows on the court. :D Stephens did well as a role player last year, but I look for him to work himself back into his familiar skilled position and, if he continues to work hard enough, possibly improve on his brother's senior year stats, although a lot will depend on how hard he wants it. ;) And Haywood, also a senior-to-be, was much improved by seasons' end as were a couple others. But I think they'll all work hard in the off-season and it will show, come spring, who has put the effort into it that it takes. And I agree we'll have to hope they get there without injuries. They will be young, I agree, for the most part. :thumb: And it's going to be here before we know it! Seems like only yesterday we were talking about how they'd do last year. :walk:
