Theoldguy
NDA used a suffocating defense to defeat Simon Kenton by a score of 60-27 in first round action in the Northern Exposure Classic at NDA. The Pandas "D" held the Lady Pioneers to 10 points in the second half, and six of those points came in the fourth quarter against the NDA bench (half time 27-17 NDA). Tonight showed that you can try and stop Dickman, Drees, and Jackson, but when you try to do that, you just might want to remember to guard #30 Casey Smith, who led all scorers with 14 points with four basketball behind the 3 point line. Again far too many unforced turnovers for NDA, but it is getting better..... NDA Casey Smith 14 Emily Drees 10 Casey Jackson 8 Nicole Dickman 7 Simon Kenton Chelsea Tolliver 13 Jessica Farris 6 One game at a time, one win at a time, and getting better, every time. cshs81
From what I saw, if SK is the 3rd best team in NKY........Wow.
Theoldguy
Pandas breeze to victory Notre Dame Academy 60, Simon Kenton 27 BY TODD BONDS | ENQUIRER CONTRIBUTOR Sure the Notre Dame Pandas opened the 2006 Northern Exposure Classic Wednesday by defending their crown and posting a 60-27 victory over Simon Kenton. However, very few Pandas took time to celebrate the win on their home floor. All most of the girls could think about was a possible title-game matchup Friday against Boone County, which handed Notre Dame a double-digit loss in the regional finals of last year's state tournament. Notre Dame considered the loss an upset. To read the rest of the article, click on the above link..... One game at a time, one win at a time, and getting better every time. 3ptshooter
C Smith great game but oldguy, I have been watching these two Casey's play their entire career and if I can shut Jackson down and leave Smith open I will most definetly take my chances. Smith is a defensive player not an offensive machine as Jackson can be. Smith hasn't hit 4 3's in a game her whole career, no consistancy where Jackson lives on the 3. As for a rematch as all are looking forward to, maybe not. The way Boone is playing they won't get past a very quick, athletic and strong Shelby Co team. Boone's savoir will be the press, Shelby looked turnover happy at times. NDA will walk in their pool, I see them playing Shelby in the finals. MVPNash
3pt...you are almost dead on with your assessment. Boone will not get past Hart County tonight if both teams play the way they played last night. Hart had 3 chances to take the lead on SC last night with 30 seconds to go and turned it over for uncontested lay-ups. NDA has made a believer out of me and no team wants to play them right now. So far, the season has played out exactly like last year. NDA was smokin' at #1 and Boone was #2 @ 3-4 and looking like an elementary school team at best. NDA will have to wait until Jan to get there revenge. With this success I expect Coach Darpel will want to stay with the program for a while with all of that young talent. She does not seem to be getting the credit that she deserves in the press.

Are you saying that Smith's shot is better looking than Jackson's? I must be watching two different players. ND is on a roll and playing very well, I don't know if anyone in this region can beat them right now. Obviosly, Boone will be ready come district/regional time. Last night I would have to agree with cshs81. Smith shots were taken like a Todd Jacobs or a Danny Noll. They were taken with confidence, and she looked like she could have done it all night long. You could see it in her eye's, and her teammates noticed it also.....The basket must have looked like the Grand Canyon to her... One game at a time, one win at a time, and getting better, every time. On a side note.... How come you and InDaZone don't post anything on Boone County this year. Would have loved to have heard about your game against Holmes. Just wondering? CoachK
This doesn't surprise me a whole lot. SK has not been challenged yet and ND is easily the best team in N KY right now. SK has some serious big girl issues as well. InDaZone, like OldGuy said, why don't you start putting Boones highlights and game scores on. Keep us up to date on the girls at BC !! As I stated previously, LAST NIGHT it was no contest. Jackson had a rough night shooting the 3. Its the first I've seen of either so that's all I have to go by. cshs81
This doesn't surprise me a whole lot. SK has not been challenged yet ! SK appears to be very young - lots of SOPHS playing. It appeared that they weren't playing the pressure D that Coach Stowers was hoping for - especially out top.
CoachK
I noticed in a couple of SK's other games , their "D" has been very jaded. I do believe they will get better as the season moves on.
