Notes

-Not that I expected anyone would knock Bowling Green from their perch this year, but I don’t know that I expected them to secure their rank at this point in this dramatic a fashion.  Playing the #2 & #3 teams in our rankings, on the road, they won those two games by 25 and 36.  The Purples are playing stifling defense, and shooting the lights out.  They had the benefit of a veteran team, and the product is showing on the court.  They’re going nowhere.

-The best chance to have a ranking change came on Saturday night when #3 Greenwood visited #4 Allen County-Scottsville.  The game did not disappoint, as the two played a classic, going to three overtimes before Greenwood finished it by a 96-93 score.  The game was the longest in nine years for Greenwood and featured their highest score in a game in 21 years.  Despite the loss, the Patriots had a good week, starting 2-0 in district play.  They’ll get a chance to go to 3-0 and really put themselves in good position for the district’s top seed when they host #2 Barren County on Friday.

-Clinton County wasn’t the most impressive in their wins this week, but they got the job done, moving to 3-0.  They trailed most of the night against district opponent Russell County, before pulling ahead in the fourth quarter.  Perhaps the 16th district might be a little less secure than thought?

-The game to watch this week is the aforementioned Barren County/Allen County-Scottsville tilt, but keep an eye on Greenwood’s week.  They visit #7 Franklin-Simpson before visiting #8 South Warren in coach Jason Holland’s debut.

Nice job!
Interesting enough, I’m told the Purples are down two starters still and beating these teams with no problem. Huddleston and Cooper are both recovering from surgeries. I think Cooper is expected to return in a few weeks and Huddleston in about a month. Can’t wait to see them play a strong defensive team in the guard area... they haven’t seen that yet!

Another GREAT job @DragonFire!

I think this week was all chalk, as DFire was spot on in his pre-season rankings!  That Greenwood-ACS game was a barn-burner for sure!  Feel bad for Monroe County as they have started the season on a tough stretch.

Pride was correct in BG doesn't even have all their team yet!  Wow!

I think the way the Purples are playing it is going to test Coach Sherrill to split the minutes in a way as not to mess the chemistry up, as they are playing really well right now!  But adding projected starters back in the lineup is never a bad thing right!

Concerning the schedule, I'm looking forward to the Warren Central game this Friday even though I know Central is really young this year.  They will play hard.  Then the Desales game on the 23rd is an interesting one before they go into the gauntlet of a schedule in February!

Go Purples!
