Adair County at Rockcastle County Predictions/Updates

Featured Replies

Adair county(0-1) is coming off a 22-19 loss to Metcalfe county while   Rockcastle(0-1) is coming off a loss to Letcher county Central 27-8.

Week 1 game recap for the Rockets:

Rockcastle traveled over 2 hours into the mountains to take on a LCC team who returned the vast majority of it’s team from the 2019 season. However the Rockets returned 8 players on offense and 8 on defense and has high hopes of making a deep run in class 3A playoffs and competing with Bell county for a district title. Both teams came out and showed that no offseason has hindered their offense greatly and for an entire first half showed no continuity on the offensive side of the ball and the halftime scoreboard proved that as the Rock was down 8 to 2. Only 1 touchdown occurred between the two teams in the first half and the only points the Rock could find was a safety made by the defense. Rockcastle’s first play however was something different and something that appears to be a staple during the 2020 season and that is a pass. Senior and team captain Noah Parkey fired a deep ball that connected with Senior WR Chris Mink. While many passes throughout the game never connected it certainly wasn’t because Rock doesn’t have WR’s or choose not to pass like in previous years as Parkey attempted 22 passes. Most during any Rock game in the last 3-4 years. Parkey finished the night 12-22 for 91 yards. Rock was able to run the ball for 151 yards lead by Junior RB Matthew Chasteen who had 12 carries for 106 yards. Rock scored their first TD in the 3rd quarter on a 40+ run by Chasteen. That would be Rocks only TD as they would fall 27-8 to LCC.

Both schools are looking for their first win who will come away with it in this weeks matchup?

With so many starters back from an eight win team, I thought Rockcastle was a potential 3A sleeper, but the loss to Letcher Central gives me pause. If you're going to make some noise this season, that's a game you've got to win. Same deal this week. This is a game Rockcastle should win, handily.

I think it should be a fairly competitive game since Adair has better skill players than years past but their line play was pretty suspect last week and thats where Rockcastle will have the biggest advantage to me.
