I've not personally seen them play, but when they took Brossart to OT in the All 'A' I thought that something right must be going on with them. It makes me wonder just what a force they might've been if they still had their star player Mason Rusch who averaged over 20 ppg who moved to North Carolina for his senior year.

Coach Donaldson has brought stability, and it is obvious that he has a passion for the program and the players respond to him.

Prior to his arrival two years back the Cougars were a rudderless ship, going through several coaches in a short period of time.

During the Douthit, Jr, era the Cougars didn't have to be that bad, but they were.

Calvary is on a good run, not only in basketball but also in soccer where they were district champions, defeating both Brossart and Campbell County, and then in the Regional where they got George Rogers Clark and Campbell County again. This success on the pitch and the hardwood is the product of having a senior class, made up of quality athletes. The fact that they have been able to re-invent themselves despite the departure of Mason Rusch is a credit to them and their coach.

The next challenge will be in sustaining it, when these seniors walk down the aisle.

All of our small schools are subject to peaks and valleys when it comes to talent, but the present run that Calvary is on is a good one, and will lend itself to being a more attractive athletic/Christian option in the future.
