Ashland 71 George Washington (WV) 58

Ashland continues to impress as they beat undefeated and 3rd ranked team from West Virginia. The Tomcats improve to 9-0.

GW had a good gameplan, slow the game down and limit Ashlands possessions. 30 points in the 4th quarter sealed the deal for the young Tomcats though. This Ashland team is undersized but it's working, due to their shooting abilities.

Good win for Ashland. Anytime you go into another highly rated team’s gym and win their own tournament, and in another state at that, that’s an accomplishment.

Ashland this season reminds me of one of those highly ranked but smaller schools you don't want to play in the NCAA tournament. If you're one of the favorites to win the championship you should beat them, but they're also a scrappy team on defense and have a team full of shooters. They can beat anyone in the state on a given night, imo.

That said they're not the best team in the state, they lack the size to be the best. But sometimes basketball IQ and shooting prevails. This Ashland team excels in both of those areas, they know what they need to do to win and they have really good shooters. They're really young as well, itll be fun to watch them progress over the next few years.
