Mason County Classic

Recommended Posts

Ripley 64

St Pat 57

Ripley was led by Jessica Pfeffers 25 and Hannah Pfeffers 20. Hannah nailed the 3 pointer with under a minute to play to unlock the 57-57 tie and Ripley went on to get their 1st victory.

St. Pat was led by Rutherfords 16 points and really there isn't a lot of scoring to go around her. The Lady Saints are really young and you have to be patient with those girls.

This game was tied 9 times and was really back and forth for the most part, the closest game of the two nights.

Mason County 74

Pendleton 54

D. Chambers led Mason with 20 points, T. Chambers with 17, Cline with 16 and Menke with 10.

Pendleton County was led by Natalie Kelsh with 20 points.

Mason again gets balanced scoring from their starters, Pendletons Kelsh is a nice player and if they can get another scorer that team with their ability to play physical could cause some problems with matchups with some teams.

According to today's Maysville paper, the second quarter was 21-3 Mason County; otherwise the game was pretty much even.

Anyone else planning to go to the MCHS-Bracken County game?

Perfect reason why kids today need to realize that the game is 4 quarters and scoring spurts can come at any one of those 4 quarters. The 21-3 run was in large part of Pendleton pressing and Mason shooting layups off the press.

And Pendleton being in huge foul trouble. 24 fouls on Pendleton, 14 on Mason. Mason went 19 of 31 from the FT line. Pendleton went 7 of 10.

Pendleton County is a player or two away from causing a lot fits in the region. They are a very physical team, I guess the foul situation is either a testament of Pendletons style of play or again a battle on the officials. Nonetheless, in the foul trouble, Pendleton elected to press and the 21-3 run by Mason was fueled by this.

Absolutely agree. They have a nice team that can put 6 players out there who could easily score in double digits. They need one more outside shooter to develop to really be a serious threat. Presently, because of consistent foul trouble and players deciding not to play, Sara Scaggs is their consistent outside shooter that gets to stay on the court.

I expect them to claim the district title and make a semifinal run to the region. Depending on mathups, it will determine what they do in the semifinals. Put them on the same side with runnerup in Montgomery district, Brossart and even Mason and I believe they could get that semifinal game. Montgomery is a beast though.
