Bubba Wilson
I surely recall that game as well. I think Coach Deaton and his team scored about 130 points on the Redskins......I think they scored about 50 in one quarter. You may not be able to jump Billy Hoyle ; but you sure do have a good memory.
Bubba Wilson
Don't put words in my mouth, I did not mention running up the score, I said he made his point by pressing the whole game till about 5 minutes left in the game. No complaints from this observer, but I did hear some grumbling. In my opinion there is no such thing as running up the score. Like somebody above said, you can't tell them not to play hard. What do you think Steve Wright will do in the same situation next week? District seeds are determined head to head, then road wins, then quarters won.....so lots of things go thru your mind in these games. Best thing about this game for the Colonels is that is over and they won tonight against the Jenkins Cavaliers..so now they are 4 games away from equaling their win total from last season. billyhoyle
The Colonels have an up-and-coming team with a great coach but the Rredhounds made a statement in there victory last night (congrats by the way) so i assume that the Cards will try to match but i bet Whitley plays as hard is not harder against the defending 13th region champs. Coach Deaton has alot to prove in a different situation as he was in during his stint at Corbin. He was a proven yet unknown coach before his very successful years at CHS, now he is very well known around southeastern KY. I wish the 50th district the best in what I call one of the most competitive districts in the state!

Getting a win the next night is just what the Dr. ordered for the Colonels. Good Job!
Game_Ball
IMO I didn't think Corbin played as well as they could have..I think both teams had a bad night. Had Corbin been on top of their game the margin could have been much greater.
bball king
Good Luck to my Colonels now and in the future there is light at the end of the tunnel and it is not a train. Alum 1977 bball king
mountainmutt
Whitley will improve as they get their best players back into action and the coaches mentality completely soaks in. Deaton may just be setting the table for a "February Surprise". Don't count the silver fox out until you see the big buzzards land, the pretty ladies crying and the jealous husbands tamping the dirt in around the coffin. You know what they say, a cat has nine lives but, the old gray fox never dies, he just stays out of site till someone forgets to lock the smokehouse. There ain't no bacon on the line till these teams tussle in the first game of the district tourny.
Bubba Wilson
True, unless Corbin gets a number one seed or Whitley a number four seed. Then the Fox will go up against the curl of South Laurel in the first round. Whitley better make sure they get a win over Wburg. I think the Jackets may rise to the challenge. It should be a barnburner when these two meet. I for one will be in attendance at Mountjoy gym.

What kind of time frame are you talking about here....I thought Lebanion was back and he is clearly their best player, although not in shape yet. What it amounts to is Whitley and their fans got a reality check and the present is not as good as the future (two or three years from now). Whitley should be happy to win the games they should win and not worry too much about the blowouts.
