Field Hockey Semis results

Featured Replies

Last night CAL defeated Manual and Assumption defeated Sacred Heart in a triple overtime to advance to the finals on Monday night.

Both games were played in miserable conditions, and especially the hard fought game between SHA and Assumption which was played in a driving rainstorm over half the game resulting in a slippery field and hazardous conditions for play.

Just wonder who the morons are at the KHSAA who made the decision to play the games in these conditions instead of Monday, and not only risk injuries to the girls, but not allow the teams to play at their best?

Probably the same clowns who allow a team to play the semis and finals on their home field instead of a neutral site.

Where do we get these people?

Shame on the KHSAA for allowing these games to be played in such terrible conditions. All the girls from all 4 teams deserved better. The spectators too...

The amount of time and effort put into their seasons from July until late October is incredible and to have to finish the season in those conditions, when it simply could have been avoided is a travesty. Too, they put the girls in significant risk of injury in doing so. The sport is made for fast play, cutting to the ball, and quick defense. The poor field conditions had girls sliding all over the field.

The KHSAA does nothing to promote the sport or give it equal treatment to other varsity level sports. ( see the fact that not one school outside Louisville has a team)

Regular season JV football games just a few weeks ago were called off for lesser conditions, that simply is a fact....

To have Semi-State games played though? Incredibly poor decision making.

"In order to provide an optimal experience for our participants" Nope. Didn't make that up. That is part of the KHSAA official release when it rescheduled the softball tournament in June. That was for impending weather, not the monsoon experienced on Saturday that was already imminent and there. A bunch of clowns calling the shots.

I just don't understand in this day and age of advance weather knowledge why you wouldn't error on the side of safety and common sense for the sake of the student athletes you are trying to promote in the first place!

@DadOfGirls correctly pointed out that massive amount of effort it takes to play on one of these teams now. It's not just July to October, most of these girls play something year around and keep in shape for this season. And to get to the end and have it weather impacted, when you could see it coming days off is really inexcusable in my view. Just another example of KHSAA saying "whatever" which translates into as long as its not football we don't care. Sad.
