KLA Championship - Henry Clay vs. Lexington Catholic (again) (LAX)

Recommended Posts

Since the high school leagues separated in 2013 the KLA Championship has been held by only two schools - Henry Clay and Lexington Catholic.

Henry Clay has grabbed the title 4 times since 2013. And the Blue Devils have been in the championship game every year. Their only championship game losses are to the Knights in 2014 and last year. The Knights have been in the KLA championship game every year except 2015, the year following their first KLA championship.

So the Blue Devils and Knights faced each other in 5 of the 6 years of KLA. The Blue Devils hold the series edge 3 to 2. But their meetings in the season finale have often had plenty of excitement. In the four meetings since 2014 the team have score the same number of goals. Three of the games were settled by only one goal differentials and last years by only 2 goals. LexCath won in 2015 by a score of 6 to 5. Henry Clay won the next two matchups with a very last second goal in 2016 and the Blue Devils followed up the following year with a overtime sudden death win after a being down two goals in the final period. Last year the Knights won by only 2 goals (13 - 11).

So the Blue Devils and Knights meet again at Bryan Station tonight at 7 p.m.
