April 14, 20197 yr Looks like the next chance for severe weather will be to end next week. While the details with respect to severe risk are therefore difficult to highlight this far in advance, the Storm Prediction Center is maintaining a 15% risk area. Given the strength of the upper system which will provide conditions favorable for severe storms to develop. Keep checking back for updates as we get closer to the end of the week.
April 15, 20197 yr Author Some could see some severe weather on Thursday. For now, it looks like the western part of Kentucky will be under the gun. Ahead of a deepening low, a cold front will move across the Mississippi River on Thursday. Widespread convection and cloud cover accompanying the system should hinder heating/destabilization in some areas. However strong flow in the aloft should compensate somewhat permitting locally strong to severe storms to occur, along with an afternoon peak in severe weather potential. The following radar shows the possible showers and storm on Thursday. After some precipitation early during the day, there may be a slight break during the early afternoon hours. Late afternoon is when the severe weather potential could occur. The time period is from 10 am EST Thursday to 1 am EST Friday morning. I will continue updates as we get closer.
April 16, 20197 yr Author Portions of western Kentucky have been placed in a Category 2 Slight Risk Area for possible strong to severe storms on Thursday. East of that area a section of Kentucky is in a Category 1 Marginal Risk Area. As of now, it seems that the threat will be damaging winds, hail and maybe a tornado or two. I'm monitoring the situation will update as we get closer to Thursday.
April 17, 20197 yr Author What's Northern Kentucky looking like Saturday morning and afternoon? Rain most of the day with high temperatures from the mid to upper 40s.
April 17, 20197 yr Author The showers and storms should be in western Kentucky around 4 pm EST on Thursday then move eastward across Kentucky through the nighttime hours. They will lose some of their intensity as they move eastward. Keep checking back for updates.
April 18, 20197 yr Author The chance for severe storms has diminished some overnight. I'm still monitoring it.
