Thoughts/Predictions on 2019/2020 Red Devils?

 

 

 

 

 

I just seen today Russell will compete in the 2019 King of the Smokies Christmas Classic Tournament in Pigeon Forge,TN in December.

Plenty of talent returning.

That should be a nice trip for the team.

Have some nice young players should be a good season for the Red Devils.

Does anyone know how new Red Devils coach Tom Barrik Likes to play fast pace/slow down etc?. Also what kind of defense does he play? I don't know much about the new Coach. How old is he?

The trip to Pigeon Forge is still on according to the schedule posted on twitter.

I think the schedule should have said 63rd district tournament instead of 64th unless for some reason they moved Russell which I haven't heard about.

Derek Cooksey has joined the Russell staff after 10 years as Fairview Boys Coach. Rick Griffith has also joined the staff. His Brother Brett Cooksey will be acting head coach for Fairview. Rick Griffith is a former Fairview girls coach/Boyd County assistant/University of Kentucky women's assistant. Derek Cooksey has accepted a teaching position at Russell.

How are things going in Flatwoods? There has been a lot of turmoil at Russell in recent history. Will this hire be the answer to some of their problems. I believe they have some decent players returning. Will that result is more wins?

This coach seems to have them working hard based on what I've saw on twitter, but we'll have to see if it leads to more wins. Russell just about beat Boyd County this past season and beat Ashland once although Villers was out. Russell is right there, just need to be able to win close games consistently. Russell can be pretty good, It's all about how much hard work they put in.

Russell had a tough break the other day when 6'5 big man Charlie Bechtel broke a bone in his foot. Charlie is likely out until February per Coach Tom Barrick.
