Scott Eagles blistering hot, the Mustangs not.

Just how hot were the Eagles??? How about 22 of 31 from the 2 point land for 71% from the field. 7 of 15 from beyond the arc for 46.7% as opposed to our Mustangs 18 of 35 for 51.4% and 1-7 from three-point land for a paltry 14.3%. The Eagles hit 12 of 13 free-throws for 92.9%, while the Mustangs managed 14 of 23 for

60.9%. We were out-rebounded 29 to 13.

The Mustangs obviously have some serious work to do in order to compete with the Eagles on Tuesday, Feburary 19th in the semi-finals of the 37th District Tournament, should the Mustangs clear the Calvary Christian hurdle Thursday night in Alexandria.

The Mustangs were led in the scoring column by J.D. Schumacher with 13 and Ethan Eilerman with 12.

The Eagles had five players record double figures, led by David Hunter with 16. Trey Meister put up 15, Kyren Simpson and Nathan Joyce with 11 each, and Grant Profitt added 10.

In the contest Brossart senior Bryson Wieland suffered a serious thumb injury while attempting to block a shot, and will undergo surgery on Tuesday morning.

WIth the win the Eagles improve to 13-9 on the season, and the Mustangs fall to 16-9.

For those who have been asking - Senior Bryson Wieland severely dislocated his thumb last night (Mon-Teb.4th) during the Brossart-Scott game, which tore ligaments.

He underwent surgery this morning. It will take 4 to 6 weeks to heal and will require 3 months of therapy, therefore causing him to miss the remainder of his senior basketball and spring sports seasons.

Bryson missed his entire junior season due to a lower back stress fracture. We were thrilled that he was finally healthy and enjoying a successful senior season.
