Who do you think will have the best quarterback in the 1A Championship game?

 

Pikeville: Connor Roberts has completed 97/155 passes for 1907 yards and 5 interceptions. He also has run the ball 138 times for 1245 yards and 18 touchdowns.

 

Beechwood: Cameron Hergott has completed 95/156 for 1597 yards and 7 interceptions. He also has run the ball for 69 times for 442 yards and 6 touchdowns.

 

So what’s your thoughts and why?

Hergott will be the better pure passer, but Roberts is probably the best athlete on the field with the exception of Logan Castleman.

 

I think Roberts has better weapons at receiver to throw to in Hensley, Watkins, and Billiter.

Hergott is the most athletic QB at Beechwood in about 10 years. If he gets in the open field, he will run away from people. However, Roberts is the better QB right now.

 

At receiver, John Odom is a weapon for Beechwood. Also with excellent speed. He ran stride for stride with Malachi Corley more than once in the game against Campbellsville. Mason Williams has been very good this year at CB for Beechwood.

 

Roberts is definitely the key to the game for Pikeville running the RPO. That plus the matchup in the trenches are the deciding factors.

Purely based upon those stats, it looks like Roberts (Senior) has been the better QB thus far. But, that's not what you asked.

 

No slam on Cam (Sophomore), but I think Pikeville has the better QB on Friday. Yet, BHS has the better team, coming out with the win.
