Owsley County has all their players back from a 12-16 season, so that alone suggests there should be improvement on their record. The district will not be very strong this year, with defending district and region champ Estill County returning only one starter, Powell County returning three, and Lee County coming off a winless season. The Owls also have the benefit of hosting the district tournament. Powell County is probably preseason #1 but Owsley County could surprise.

Owsley should be really good this season. If Estill and Powell overlook them or Lee County, then they could be watching the regional tournament from home. I think the 56th district will be very competitive this coming season.
