Has the making for another good District game like last year. Bath County won 24-22. Bath ran 69 offensive plays compared to West who only ran 31 plays on offense. I think both teams will have their work cut out for them defensively. Turnovers and special teams will win or lose this matchup.

I think Bath County can do what Russell did to the Comets - control the line of scrimmage. As usual, Swartz and the running game will be hard to slow down. But I do think that Bath will see a better version of West Carter than the one I saw last week. I'm sure they'll be looking to atone for their poor showing vs. Russell. They don't want to fall to 0-2 in the district and put themselves in a position where they might have to win out to avoid going to Central for the 1st Round of the playoffs, or perhaps even missing the postseason all together.

Why would Bath County see a better version than Russell did?

For the very reason I stated above. Russell is simply a better team than West Carter, but I think West is better than what they showed against the Devils. You could tell from the body language of team leaders like Rivers and McGregor and how vocal they were on the sideline that they knew they were better than 49-14 would suggest. If Daniel Barker is the coach that a lot of people think he is, this should be a great week of practice for the Comets. I think he'll get his kids to respond and play at the level they know they're capable of.

Whether or not it'll be enough to beat Bath, I don't know. But I look for a sharper West Carter squad to take the field this Friday.

Having said all that, I still think Bath wins by multiple scores. I'm not sure that West can get them off the field. I think the Wildcats’ relentless running game and physicality will dictate the outcome.

Bath County wil play a well coached, fast, strong, and athletic team Friday night. Rivers and Kline are a great combination that few can run with. The offensive playbook is wide open and teams have to prepare for everything you can think of. The WC defense is solid and the Wildcats may have trouble moving the ball on them with any consistency. It will be tough for the Cats leave Olive Hill with a W.

Cline is a versatile talent. Russell did a great job keeping him hemmed in as a runner. I think he averaged less than a yard a carry the other night. But he made a big impact catching the ball. It's hard to keep him quiet for four quarters. Barker will find a way to get him the ball in space one way or another.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Bath's improvement on defense this year. They look well ahead of where they were at this point last year. They've performed well in every game so far. You can throw out the garbage time scores by Estill.

Bath County. By two TD. Bath County will be able to use their power offense to keep West speed of the field.
