Great win for our gals who improve to 2-2-1 who will now challenge Newport Central Catholic, perhaps on September 12th at NCC's home field in a semi-state event to determine the representative from Regions 9-10 to the "A" State Tournament in Frankfort the weekend of September 22-23.

Here we go again. “PKs are terrible” cricket sounds when you ask for a logistically workable alternative.

Start triple OT 9v9.

Then each team remove 2 additional players and switch sides every 10 minutes.

 

Someone will eventually score.

Play with two balls, pull the keepers, reduce the number of players, ANYTHING BUT PKs.

There may not an ideal way to a conclusion, but PKs are not so bad. They require technique, some level of atleteticism (more so for the keepers), confidence, and a bit of luck. The same skills required from the players during the run of play.

Continuing to just play won’t work in soccer. The game is too long and tiring. It will cause more injury either through exhaustion or making poor challenges.

Players are too tired to keep playing in a post-season game a weak reason to go to a skills competition to decide who plays on or wins a title.
