Early season: morning hunting

Featured Replies

So I’ve collected data on when the deer are showing up on my trail camera.

No surprise, there are three spikes. First light, mid day, and dusk.

I know most say hunting mornings in the early season is a bad call, because spooking deer is a huge possibility. I’m torn though, because right at first light has been when most pictures were taken.

Have any of you guys had success in the morning during the early season?

I have two boys with several bow kills, I'm thinking all were taken in the evening.

Who says you shouldn't hunt in the morning? I've always hunted the mornings. Probably killed more deer in the morning than afternoon.

My philosophy is if you are not there you won’t have a chance to bring one home ... evenings are probly better early especially if you are hunting a food source ...
