What are some of the biggest storylines or questions regarding the college football playoff heading into 2018?

Some big ones that come to my mind:

- The Alabama QB situation

- How well does Dwyane Haskins do taking over for JT Barrett?

- Who starts under center for Clemson?

- Can Georgia prove 2017 wasn’t a fluke?

- How does Kyler Murray do taking the reigns from Baker Mayfield?

- Can Trace McSorley take another step forward with the abscence of Saquon Barkley?

- Shea Patterson?

- Who is Notre Dame?

- Who are the 2nd best teams in the Big 12 and PAC 12?

- What can we expect from UCF without Scott Frost?

- Can Florida State rebound off a horrible 2017?

-Is The U really back?

I’m interested to see how Trace Mcsorley does without Barkley. I think Penn State takes a step back this season.

 

Also I think Shea Patterson can make Michigan a legitimate threat to win the Big 10.

 

I think Florida could be a threat in the SEC East with Dan Mullen as coach.

 

What about Tom Herman at Texas? I personally think they’ll be good this year and the favorite in the Big 12 next year.

The kid replacing Barkley was the #1 RB in the country in his recruiting class. McSorely, should continue to roll.

There aren’t 3 teams better than Penn State in the Big 10. 2 at best. OSU and that’s it’s.

OSU, Wisconsin(who has the best Oline in college football and a really good running back), and I think Michigan is going to be really really good. And ESPN had him the #3 RB in his class. I just read he was #1 coming out of highschool according to the article I read about Penn State. They also have Ricky Slade who was the #1 all purpose back coming out of highschool.

Don’t ever look at ESPN rankings they don’t mean crap. Penn State was more than Saquon Barkley last year, they have players at every position. Wiscy is Wiscy. Jonathan Taylor is the 2nd best back in the Big 10 and he should have another great year. I think Michigan is still at best the 5th best team in the Big 10 until proven otherwise. Don’t sleep on Sparty either. Michigan State is going to be very good and will be in the top 10 for most of the year and they have themselves a pretty good playmaker at QB too with a year of experience under his belt. Michigan has a ton of ground to make up. OSU, MSU, PSU, and Wiscy are all much better teams right now and they all return a huge percentage of their teams last year. They have to do something to prove to me that they are able to take that next step. Simply adding Shea Patterson doesn’t do that for me. We don’t know what he’s going to look like in Harbaughs system. We didn’t get a great glimpse of him at Ole Miss because of all of the stuff that went down, but the little we did see he was very hit or miss and turned the ball over a ton. I just don’t see how anyone could definitively say they will be better than any of the top 4 teams in the conference.

The difference is Penn State and Wiscy are returning players with a combined 3 losses on the season. Michigan had 5 losses last year.
