He apparently went through the entire process without speaking to the Spanish FA, which is strange. It’s stranger that the reaction of the two parties after this went public was to have this result. What a mess.

In two days they’re going to walk onto a field against the reigning European champions, which features arguably the best player on the planet, and they’re going to do it with their Director of Football running the show. Crazy.
