Norfolk Tides(Baltimore) 29-24 @ Columbus Clippers(Indians) 26-28

This one started out as a slug fest, with seven run being scored being scored in the first two innings(4 by the Tides) From there the next four runs would be scored by the Clippers.

Final score, Columbus 7-4.

Norfolk Tides(Baltimore) 29-25 @ Columbus Clippers(Indians) 27-28

 

Was able to watch this one on TV.

This one went ten innings before the Clippers were able to stun the Tides again.

Clippers won 3-2 on a bases loaded walk off sing by Francisco Mejia. Mejia has his average over .200 finally, as he is slowly coming out of his season long slump.

 

Cole Sulser,Jack Leathersich,George Kontos and Ben Taylor all came out of the Clippers bullpen and combined they gave up zero runs,3 hits in six innings. Yandy Diaz went 3-3 with a walk. Mejia and Nellie Rodriguez had RBI for the Clippers.

 

For the Tides, Steve Wilkerson and Mike Yastrzemski had one RBI each.

I am making my first trip to Avon, Ohio to watch Lake Erie on Saturday, so I wanted to get a little familiar with them.

The Crushers (15-8)of four slammers errors and a past ball to post the win in this one last night. The Crushers crushed the baseball for 15 hits also.Dane Hutcheon had three hits and scored three runs.Matthew Dacey had a hit and three RBI.Aaron Hill,Kewby Meyer and Bryan De La Rosa each had a RBI.

 

For the Slammers,Trenton Hill(Farmersville,Ohio)and Travis Bolin each had two RBI.

Danny Zardon had two hits and drove in a run. Lee-Jun Kalawaia had two hits.

Akron Rubber Ducks(Cleveland)33-26 @New Hampshire Fisher Cats(Toronto) 35-23

 

Akron jumps out to a 7-1 lead and then hangs on to post a 7-4 win.

Andrew Calica hit his 3rd homer of the season for the Ducks and Sam Haggerty blasted his 2nd bomb of the season.

Calica, Haggerty and Tyler Krieger all had two hits each for the Ducks.

Calica and Joe Sever both had 2RBI.

 

For the Cats,Harold Ramirez hit his 2nd bomb of the season.

Bo Bichette(.274)Ramirez(.301) and Connor Panas(.224) all had 1RBI.

Potomac Nationals(Washington) 30-26 @ Lynchburg Hillcats(Indians)26-30

Hillcats have dropped five straight.

 

The Nationals get two in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.

Ian Sagdal singles,then he goes to 2nd on a balk by Zach Plesac.

Rhett Wiseman walks. David Masters gets a RBI on a sac bunt(1-1)

Blake Perkins makes it 2-1 with a hard single.

 

Bottom of the fifth the Hillcats get two, two run doubles and now lead 5-2.

Luke Wakamatsu doubles (9) to plate two(3-2) and then Logan Ice doubles (4)to make it(5-2)

This is game one of a seven inning double header.

 

Rhett Wiseman triples (2)to start the sixth inning for the Nationals and then he comes home on a double play and we have a (5-3 game)

 

5-3 Hillcats win.

Schaumburg Boomers (Independent) 11-13 @ Lake Erie Crusher(Independent) 15-10

I was going to this one but the local weather report for Avon, Ohio called for thunderstorms, which never came. It rained a little for ten minutes. I ended up watching online.

The boomers used eleven hits to post the win in this one along with six crushers base on balls. Leading the winners offense was,Ty Moore(2 Hits 2RBI). Zack Weigel added two hits and one RBI.Collin Ferguson drove in a run.

 

For Lake Erie,Bryan DeLaRosa drove in two on the day and he had a hit.

Kewby Meyer and Dane Hutcheon had one RBI apiece.

Game 63

Buffalo Bisons (Toronto) 9 Columbus Clippers (Cleveland) 1

Game one of a double header.

I took both games.

 

Buffalo used two, three run bombs to spank Columbus in game one.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr.(4) and Danny Jansen hit the bombs.

Reese McGuire and Roemon Fields each had three hits. In all Buffalo had 15 hits, in the seven inning game.Gurriel totaled 4 RBI, Jansen had 3.

 

The Clippers, who have one of the worse offenses in all of triple A, managed just three hits. They struck out nine times in this one, which is sadly par for the course for them.

Game 64

Buffalo Bisons 2 Columbus Clippers 1 (8 Innings)

This was game two of the double header.

 

Buffalo used a solo blast from Darnell Sweeney(4) and a RBI from Anthony Alford in the top of the eighth to sweep the Clippers. Buffalo had just five hits in this one, with three of them being singles.

 

For the lifeless Clippers, they managed sic hits, with all of them being singles.

Columbus only struck out five times in this one. Light hitting Adam Rosales led the way with two hits.

LP-Cole Sulser (L, 2-2) 4.13 ERA

Columbus Clippers (Indians) 29-31 @ Louisville Bats(Reds) 22-26

 

So far in 2 2/3 innings the Bats have had 5 bad, really bad throws, with two being counted as errors. Homer Bailey,who is making a rehab start for the Bats has to asking himself what level the Reds have sent him to. Little league players can throw the ball better.

 

Scoreless through two innings, the Clippers have started to show some form of life, with the bats. Eric Stamets singled to lead things off.Drew Maggi doubles (1) to make it 1-0.Brandon Barnes singles to make it 2-0.Mike Papi doubled (8) and all of a sudden, this was a 4-0 game.Eric Haase, who is on a two month slump tripled (3)

to make it 5-0 Columbus.

 

The Bats come back with a four spot in their part of the third.

Blake Trahan singled with two outs.

Nick Senzel doubles (9) to make it a 5-1 game.

Hernan Iribarren walked to put two on, with two outs.

Dilson Herrera homered(4) over the left field wall and this was a one run game.(5-4 Columbus)

 

Yu Chang doubles (17) to get the Clippers started in the fifth.

A wild pitch by Jackson Stephens advances Chang to third.

A could be good inning ended with the just one being scored, on a Nellie Rodriguez sac fly(6-4 Clippers)

 

Brandon Barnes walks to start the seventh inning for the Clippers.

A wild pitch by Evan Mitchell moves Barnes to 2nd base.

Eric Haase doubles (8) to make it a 7-4 Clippers lead. The ball was hit way up in the air and nobody could find it, making this a very easy double for Haase.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats(Toronto) 37-25 @ Akron Rubber Ducks (Cleveland) 36-27

 

Jon Harris went six no hit innings before being pulled do to pitch count.

By that time this game was all but over, with the Fisher Cats leading 6-0.

In the final three innings,Akron managed 1 hit and 1 run as they fell 6-1.

 

Bo Bichette hit his fifth home run and totaled three RBI, for the winners.

Jon Berti, recently let go by the Indians organization had one hit, three RBI and scored two runs.

 

For Akron,Joe Sever had a double.

Columbus Clippers (Indians)31-31 @ Louisville Bats(Reds) 22-38

 

The Bats got all they would need, when the plated two in the 2nd, to take a 2-1 lead.

Louisville put up single runs in the fifth and seventh and then added a three sport in the in the eighth, to ice this one.

 

The Bats total three homer runs in this one.

Gabriel Guerrero(1), he added another hit to his total before the night was over and one RBI.

D.J. Peterson(5), he totaled two hits and two RBI.

Mason Williams(3) he had two hits and

Nick Senzel had two hits and 2 RBI for the Bats.

Steve Selsky had three hits.

 

For Columbus it was another bad night with the sticks.

Eleven strikeouts as a team.

4 total hits.

Todd Hankins had his first triple A homer of the season.

Game 67

 

Windy City Thunder Bolts (Independent) 10-16 at Florence Freedom (Independent)13-16

 

1,673 fans watched the freedom put up 15 runs in the first four innings of play and then add two more before all was said and done. The win gave the Freedom the three game sweep and a three game win streak.

Xavier Turner(3),Jordan Brower(2) Connor Crane(3),Keivan Berges & Craig Lepre(10) all blasted homers for the Freedom.

Jacob Wark(.370) had three more hits as he has settled into the Freedom family, nicely.

Austin Wobrock(.289) hitting ninth also had three hits.

Brower had 4RBI to lead the way.

In all Florence had 17 hits.

 

For Windy City, they have been struggling all season and have just change 1/4 of their 24 man roster and now have to hope the six new players can provide some fire works before the season is over.

Axel Johnson had three hits, including his first two bombs of the season.

Game 68

 

River City Rascals(Independent) 18-13 @ Lake Erie Crushers(Independent)19-13

 

This was game three of this series and the first game, that the losing team was able to score. The Crushers used a two run fourth, to take this contest 3-2. All of the runs in this one was scored in the first four innings. Lake Erie got one in the first as did River City. In the fourth River City plated one, while Lake Erie put up two.

 

Mike Jurgella got the games first RBI in the top of the first.

Kewby Meyer had a RBI in the first, for Lake Erie.

 

In the fourth,Paul Kronenfeld blasted a solo homer run. His third of the season. He had three hits on the day, raising his average up to .300.

 

Lake Erie counter with two runs in the fifth.

Douglas Trimble(1) hit his first bomb of the season.

Kevin Lachance knocked in what turned out to be the game winning run, with a single. Lachance also had three hits on the day and raised his average up to .274.

West Virginia Black Bears(Pirates) 0-2 @ Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Indians) 2-0

 

What a game.

The Scrappers get the 10-9 win,after the Black Bears brought in 2nd baseman,Melvin Jimenez to throw the bottom of the ninth, with the game dead locked at nine.

Clark Scolamiero was walked by Jimenez to start the ninth. He then swiped 2nd(1)

Mitch Reeves then plated the game winning run, with a base hit.

 

Jimenez, went 3/4 with the stick for the Black Bears.

Felix Vinicio, went 2/5 with his first homer and three RBI.

Edison Lantigua and Brett Kinneman each had 2 RBI.

 

For the Scrappers,Mitch Reeves went 4/4,including his 2nd bomb of the season.

Henry Pujols hit his first homer as did Simeon Lucas. Both had just 1 RBI each.

Tyler Freeman had 2 RBI and Gabriel Mejia had 1 RBI.
