Cleveland State 44 Oakland 43

Good for Cleveland State. Brutal game though. Oakland is a shell of its former self--two players scored 39 of their 43 points. Tough break for them as they could have really done some damage if they were 100% all year. The preseason Horizon League favorite finishes 19-14.

What does this say about the Horizon? The number one seed has failed to win a game in the tourney the last 3 years. It looks like it's a bad league with mediocre teams. As exciting as it was to see NKU run the table in the tourney in 2017, it was tremendously disappointing this year. Probably the toughest thing about being in a bottom end Div. I league is the fact that the regular season means absolutely nothing. Heck, in the Horizon, the lower the seed, the more success a team has had. At least that's been the case over the last couple of years, anyway.

Geographically, it made perfect sense for NKU to join the Horizon, but, in reality, the Horizon is really no better than the Atlantic Sun in terms of the overall quality of teams in the league.

^That's just not true. The Horizon League is way better than the A-Sun. The A-Sun has historically been one of the worst 4-5 leagues in the country year after year. The Horizon is down this year as a whole, but typically falls pretty close to the middle when it comes to conference strength.

For all of you saying that the regular season doesn't mean anything...I am pretty darn proud that my alma mater won it's first Regular Season Championship in Division 1 this year.

I am also proud that I'll get to watch them in the NIT. Some of you need to remember where NKU was a short time ago. Regular season didn't matter this year? My butt.
