22 turnovers for Russell and 8 for Boyd County, 21 points off turnovers for Boyd and 7 for Russell.

Congrats to the Lady Lions! Russell has nothing to hang their head over, they played a good game & came within 1 after being down 17.

Actually Russell took a 1 point lead on a couple occasions late in the game. The Stats I pointed out helped Boyd County tremendously.

Good luck against Ashland.

Yes, you made good points which did help BC tremendously. BC seems like a very special team who have had a great run so far!

I'm a little partial to BC because I played for them. It should be a great game tomorrow night!

Congratulations to Boyd County and Coach Pete Fraley.

In basketball, people like to say that it's hard to beat a good team three times. To an extent, that was proven true this season between Russell and Boyd County. The Lady Lions won all three meetings with the Lady Devils, but each game was a battle. All three contests were decided in the final minute.

Tonight, after a rough 1st half, Russell was able to tighten things up and make it a heckuva game in the 4th quarter. Savannah Wheeler sealed the victory for the Lady Lions at the free throw line in the final minute. That girl's as cool as a cucumber at the charity stripe.

Boyd County was very active on the offensive glass and with their hands, deflecting a lot of balls and picking Russell's pocket with regularity. They were all over Madison Darnell from start to finish. Their ability to shoot and score gets more attention, but their defense really showed up tonight.

What a game from Rachel Michael (8 of 14 shooting for 20 points). Considering the stage and opponent, this might have been her finest performance in a Russell uniform. I'm sure this wasn't how her and fellow seniors Darnell and Ty Mitchell wanted things to end, but they went down fighting. Sometimes, that's all you can ask for. Those three girls will be sorely missed. They leave Russell with a regional championship, three district championships, and three straight trips to the 16th Region semis. Not too shabby.

I just saw that Russell shot 51% from the field, while Boyd County shot just 28%. I'm not sure that I've ever seen a game where a team shooting that low defeated a team that shot over 50%. The disparity in free throws really played a huge role in this one.
