Final from Stanton in OT

I listened to this game on the radio. Powell had a 2 point lead in regulation with less than a minute remaining and threw the ball away on an inbound pass and Hazard tied it. Then Hazard went up by 3 and it looked as if they were in the driver’s seat. But Powell forced a turnover and scored and was fouled. Overtime.

Powell took control in OT for the win.

 

Powell continues to surprise me this year. They lost several starters after last season and I for one figured they’d struggle this year. But not the case. As long as a wise old coach named Dave Fraley is around the Pirates are going to compete. He’s taken 3 schools to the Sweet 16 in his career and has won a state championship while at Pulaski. He’s been around the block in the game of basketball a time or two to say the least.

They have two players this year that wasn't on their team last year. Possibly transfered in?

Okay. I wasn’t aware of that news. I haven’t seen Powell play this year but they come to Booneville Friday to play the Owls on Homecoming night.

Chimaobi Ajuonuma (SO), Payton Barnett (SR) those two wasn't on the team last year and it appears as Barnett is their leading scorer this season.

Both those players are starters. Barnett(6'4) plays SG and SF. Chimaobi Ajounuma-Creed[Chi-moe-bee Ah-june-ah-ma](6'3) is a C and PF as of this year. Chimaobi was on the team last year, but due to transfer, he did not play varsity. Creed is a heck of a player to only be a SO, I expect big things from that kid. Barnett can score from anywhere on the court. This is a young talented Pirates team. They have been very competitive in every game. It wouldn't surprise me to see them shock some people and make a run come regions.

Where did Barnett come from? I didn't see him any last season

Barnett came from Arkansas. One of his parents live out there. He played for Powell County all through middle school and I think his freshman season
