January 1, 20188 yr I think defer means to kick. No...defer means you give the other team the choice to kick or receive, and you put your choice to kick or receive off to the second half. That being said, deferring pretty much means you will be kicking off, as the other team chooses to take the ball 99.99999 percent of the time. And again, you only have 3 choices when you win the coin toss. Kick, receive or defer your choice to kick or receive to the second half. The team that doesn’t have the “choice” gets to pick the goal they want to defend (or in other words the direction they want to kick).
January 1, 20188 yr So team A defers, team B chooses to recvieve. Who chooses direction? Team A. Team A then chooses to kick or receive in the second half, and Team B chooses direction.
