I think it'll be between three teams, maybe in any order.

McCreary

Lincoln

East Jessamine

-

Southwestern lost their dominated guard Fothergil, and word is that during a small scrimmage between this years starters and the backups with Fothergil, Fothergil's team won because no new starters wanted to share the ball, they all wanted to be the main man. I don't think they'll be in the picture this year.

East had a good team last year, and I'm not sure what they've lost so I can't really speculate on them.

Lincoln should have a good team this year. They've got some experience now, and I think it could possibly translate into a region championship.

McCreary returns all starters to a team that lost by five to eventual champion, Boyle County. They lost only two seniors for last years class that rarely saw action, and return the best freshman in the region, by Cats' Pause, in Aaron Watts, along with a good group of freshman kids. McCreary has a new foward this year in a 6'5 foreign exchange student, which will finally put them at the dunking level. McCreary plays scrapy, and they'll make any team fight for the win. I look for more of the same this year.

Got any info on the foreign exchange besides the height?

Actually, I do.

I talk to the kids frequently and he is an amazing soccor player, so he has speed. He is extremely excited for basketball season to start after what he has heard goes on with the fan base and the team. He didn't play for a high school team in Germany but played on a regular basis.

He's not new to the game, but he's not a vet. His stroke is getting better, and he can nail the mid-range shot and dunks it often.

His hands are massive, which would lead you to think he couldn't shoot (i.e Rajon Rondo). He could become the starter center because of his size, but with his newness to the team, he'll probably come off the bench.

McCreary has outstanding depth and could start their bench or normal starters and get about the same production. I look for a good year from both the foreign exchange student and McCreary as a whole.

I think they will have an ok year...but i think the expectations are a little to high for the raiders right now... I believe their ranked to high and i dont think Watts will carry them the whole way...but what do pre season rankings mean?

Actually, I think they're better than their rankings. They were projected 10th last season and ended up 3rd/4th. I think Watts can carry them, but the load won't be on him. Senior guard Josh Bartley will take a lot of it, as will two junior guards/fowards Adam Swiger and Josh Phillips. I will make a bold prediction... they'll be in the finals of the 12th Region.

I still dont think they can hang with Somerset, Lincoln or Southwestern in any ways what so ever

They lead during the 3rd quarter of the district championships against S'western last season, before losing to D. Fothergill.

They lead Somerset until the last minute and fell short by four points.

You've had nothing positive to say about McCreary, but whatever "team" you support in the 12th region, McCreary will give them a run for their money.

If Bartley is healthy, McCreary can hang with anyteam in the 12th Region. Watts is the best player in the region as a freshman. Anyone that has saw this kid play can clearly see that.

Bartley is heathly, but not quite 100% yet. He practiced yesterday and should be 100% well before the first game of the season.

This very well could be Lincolns year, and with the success of the football team this year, the winning fever is contagious!!!!!

It could be Lincoln's year, but I don't know if it will be.

Honestly, I think it's a toss-up between three teams in the 12th.

McCreary Central

Lincoln County

East Jessamine

Between these teams, any of them could be on their way to Rupp.

How can you say something positive about them? what have they done? 2nd in a cake district? And a freshmen isnt going to lead them to Rupp i promise that...takes more than two average players to go to rupp..

We'll wait and see what happens. Finished second to the finalist and lost by five to the champion. It doesn't take more than two average players to go to Rupp in the 12th, and it has been proved. I'm not going to argue with you if all you have to say is negative. After the season is over, then we can talk. :)
