Wow. Sure didnt think that it would be this close. I thought that Mason would roll easily in this one aftering seeing Greenup last week at Johnson Central. Congrats Mason on the win and good luck to Greenup next week.

Mason County turns the ball over three times in Greenup territory; once on the 2-yard line. Held Greenup to 2 first downs in the first half; misses a FG try at halftime.

Mason finally finishes off an 83-yard drive early in the 4th quarter on a 1-yard keeper by QB Cox. DB Tony Browning gets his 5th and 6th picks on the year late in the 4th to seal the win.

Unofficial stats from WFTM (missed my first game in years due to rescheduling girls' soccer district final tonight; family always comes first):

GC - 38 rushes for 187 yards, 1-6 passing for 19 yards, 9 first downs, 1-12 3rd down conversions, 2-4 4th down conversions, 8 penalties for 43 yards

MC - 42 rushes for 169 yards, 11-16 passing for 104 yards, 16 first downs, 3-9 3rd down conversions, 0-1 4th down conversions, 7 penalties for 80 yards

High praise from Coach Buchanan for the Royals' defense tonight; still looking for consistency on offense and still searching for a way to finish scoring drives. Still, 2-1 in district with the final 2 games at home is probably right where the Royals should be.
