I would have thought that Casey's biggest weakness would have been their pass defense, which seemed suspect the one time I saw them play. They scored a lot of points, so did they rack up a lot of yardage on the ground?

Why not kick a field goal?

Both teams had poor clock managements late in the game. Powell had the ball 3:16 to play and instead of running the ball, they start going to the air, with the lead.

 

Casey got the ball on their own 30 and drove it down the field, had all 3 timeouts but instead of hurrying up, they decide to eat the clock as they drove down. Their last chance came with 12.6 secs on the clock and that was the goal line stand by Powell happened and Casey didn't have enough time for another play.
