6A #5 Male vs. 6A #7 Butler

These "traditional" schools automatically accept students from Jefferson County's "traditional" middle schools. The coaches are allowed to visit these middle schoolers and may discuss the attributes of their programs. This adds a little spice to the series for these district 3 foes.

 

Male is 4-1 with wins over Floyd Central (IN), #9 Ballard, 5A Doss, and most recently 4A #10 Western. The Bulldogs lone loss was to #1 Trinity. The Bears are also 4-1. Butler's only loss was to 2A #2 DeSales. The Bears defeated Bullitt East, Western, 5A # Fern Creek and Doss.

 

Comparing scores of common opponents shows Male won 54-12 vs. Western while Butler beat the Warriors 43-6. Doss lost to Male 47-7 and Butler 38-14. I give Male the edge because of their performance versus Trinity, a 22-0 loss. The Bulldogs defense played very well.

 

Recent history shows Male on 41-12 in 2016, 57-0 in 2015, 43-7 in 2014, and 42-21 in 2013. In fact, Butler has not defeated Male in more than 19 years.
