In week one, Franklin-Simpson took a thrashing at the hands of Elizabethtown, 55-23. Monroe County started the season with a nice win over Trigg County, 37-19.

The toughest job in coaching is getting between the ears of a team to fix a damaged psyche. With 5:33 to go in the 3rd against Elizabethtown a punishing run only drive ended at the Panther 27 with the fourth TO of the night for FS. In an instant it was 35-14...game over.

Some questions were answered with good answers, some with really bad.

The big question now is will Game 2 be a bounce or a thud for the Wildcats.

FS has a lot to fix, but I think they will get it together this week. A win will help in a lot of ways.

Last year the Wildcats started off with Portland, TN and won 46-0. Probably would have beaten them by about the same margin had they played them Friday. Much better opponent to start this year. Wildcats may take some more lumps early but have the tools to go deep in the playoffs again if their heads are in the right place. Monroe will not be a cakewalk by any means. If FS is ready to play, they should win. If not, they will come home with another loss. When Dion Pearson returns, the defense will be much better. Hard to play as well without your best player.
