Here are the 10 goals of a scrimmage.

 

1. Stay healthy

 

2. Figure out if your team is who you thought.

 

3. Stay healthy

 

4. Get live action without it being on your record.

 

5. Stay healthy

 

6. Start to figure out what you can and can't do.

 

7. Stay healthy.

 

8. Put your team in situations to challenge and better them.

 

9. Stay healthy.

 

10. Try and come away feeling good or excited about the regular season.

 

I agree with all of these. I'll add a couple more to this...

 

Give the fans/bluegrasspreps something to talk about.

 

Get backup some reps so you can create a functional depth chart.

 

Make sure line play is consistent and center/qb exchange is consistent.

 

Allow for mistakes and what needs to be fixed.

 

Not show too much.

Don't know what the coaches or others are expecting out of the scrimmages this year, but for me and the Cooper Jags, I am most interested in 2 positions and how they perform. QB and RB. For the 5th straight year it will be a new QB starting for the Jags and I have no idea who it is and how he will do. They also lost their stud RB Cordell-Armstrong to graduation and wanted to see if they had a decent replacement. This is what I will be watching mostly come Thur night at Cooper.
