I know I have a copy of "Bark At The Moon" that belongs to you. There may be a Judas Priest record in my stack that has the R.R.R. thing on it. Not totally sure. Come do a bourbon distillery tour and you can look through the library. Make sure you have a few hours for BBQ and a few record spins.

I absolutely love "British Steel", but boy was "Screaming for Vengeance" ever a game changer? I still recall thinking "OMG I can't believe what I'm hearing" when I first heard it. They pushed Metal to new heights with that one for sure. At that moment in Metal history they were the absolute Kings of it, and it wasn't even close.

Gonna say I'm about 90 percent sure I have a copy of it. But I feel like it was a dirt mall pickup. But I'm not sure. Could be? Haven't seen it in a while.

I haven't, but I'm sure I'd dig it a ton. Saw them on the SFV tour with openers Uriah Heep in '82 when I was 18 at the Cincinnati Gardens, and though I had floor seats in the back, as soon as they hit the stage my friend and I made a break for it and bolted to the front, and stayed put there for the entirety of the show. It was bigger than life, and one of the most phenomenal live shows ever, raising the bar high in my early concert going days. Saw many great metal shows back in the day, but nothing really came close to touching that one.

Though he always stayed planted in the same spot, I always dug bass player Ian Hill's cool look, and the way he'd bang his head around while keeping the sound meaty and solid.

 

I recall too at the time thinking that Halford with his short hair and earring look was a tough "Doing it my way" thing in the midst of a culture where every player in every band had long hair, and nobody yet had an earring.

 

My first thought when I saw him on stage was that he might've also been influenced by the styles of the British punk culture of the time to have the stones to pull it off.

 

At the time I had no idea about a gay leather culture to realize that that also had a huge effect on the look he was sporting.

 

Had heard rumours back then too that he hit up a gay leather bar in Cincinnati when he was in town, and I had no idea what they were even talking about. I thought surely that a leather bar was a biker bar. :lol2:
