I believe he was being sarcastic. There was a great deal of talk about transfers in the off-season, but none of them materialized. I only saw two transfers, brothers from the Northeast I believe, and I don't think I have seen them around the last few days. Mayfield's teams are home grown. I've been watching this year's starters since they were 3rd graders. Add it to the list of 'how do they do it' questions. How does a town this small produce such competitive teams annually? Must be something in the water I guess.

My apologies Westside, I meant that MHSCardinal was being sarcastic as there was no influx of transfers as some 'guaranteed' on another board. As to your question about the economy, Mayfield is far from booming. In fact, we have lost kids who will dress out for McCracken or Murray or TN schools because their parents relocated due to jobs and financial reasons. Mayfield's success has nothing to do with a robust economy, recruits, or transfers.

Mayfield's economy is growing. People have moved away but there are plenty moving in. The recent expansions at Mayfield Elementary and Mayfield Middle are examples.
