June 22, 20179 yr Disney announced the movie back in summer 2015, with the Phil Lord and Christopher Miller "team" tapped to direct. Filming began in January of this year, and then filming took an unexplained hiatus in mid-June. Disney announced two days ago that the Lord and Miller team was parting ways with Disney, citing creative differences. Now it was announced today that Ron Howard will be taking over as director for the movie. Filming will resume on July 10th, and the movie is expected to open on its original release date of May 25, 2018.

June 22, 20179 yr I haven't read much about this, but I remember seeing that Donald Glover was being tapped to play Lando Calrissian, which seems like inspired casting. He's awesome.

June 22, 20179 yr I trust Ron Howard to take this over. Seems like Kathleen Kennedy wasn't liking the direction it was taking. She is now the Lucasfilms Gatekeeper, if it wasn't following the overall vision then I'm glad she stepped in.
