Strong storms, mainly accompanied by the risk for potentially damaging wind gusts, are possible Sunday afternoon and evening. The potential is there for some heavy rainfall totals. The Weather Prediction Center has parts of Kentucky in a Slight Risk Area for excessive rainfall mainly that looks to fall Sunday afternoon into the evening hours. Some parts of Kentucky are looking at a possible 2-3" of rain mainly east of I-75. I will update in the morning.

 

 

 

Here's my latest outlook for Sunday. Most of Kentucky is in a Slight Risk Area for strong to severe storms Sunday afternoon into the evening hours. Isolated to scattered thunderstorms, some of which will be severe and mainly accompanied by the risk for potentially damaging wind gusts, are possible. Also there could be some isolated hail with the stronger storms. Also the Weather Prediction Center has parts of Kentucky in a Slight Risk Area for flash flooding. Some areas could receive 1-2" of rain in a very short period of time. This could induce flash flooding in those areas.

 

 

Everyone can see in the simulated accumulation map that the rainfall totals will rise rapidly under the stronger storms. For now the timing looks to be between 2-5 pm EDT especially for some along the Tennessee boarder around the Bowling Green area. Also those in the Louisville to NKY area should be ready for the potential for flash flooding.

Just did some checking on the possibility of any tornado activity for Sunday afternoon into the evening hours. Two areas that may see some possible tornadic activity are parts of WKY and NKY. The threat is low but it is still there for both of these locations as the simulated map shows below. Timing is between 2-8 pm EDT.

 

Quick update. The Storm Prediction Center now has the entire state of Kentucky in a Slight Risk Area for strong to severe storms for Sunday. I will post a more detailed update later this evening.

 

Saturday evening update. Things could get going around the 11 am EDT time slot especially in the NKY area. A line of storms will move southeasterly through NKY from around around 11 am to 2 pm EDT. Then a second line should form during the late afternoon and transverse across the state from around 5 pm to 8 pm EDT. The main threats look to be damaging wind gusts and flash flooding. Some hail could be seen in the areas with the strongest updrafts. Rainfall totals look to be mainly 1-2" from around just east of the I-65 corridor eastward into EKY. Totals could be higher under the stronger storms. Some could see upwards to 3". The tornado threat has diminished but there is still a small chance especially in NKY.

24 hr rainfall totals through 11 pm Sunday night. Most of this will fall Sunday afternoon into the early evening hours. Flash flooding will possible.

 

No real changes in the morning update. One thing of note this mornings activity may limit some of the severe development later today. The severe potential is still there. The main threats look to be damaging wind gusts and small hail in the stronger storms. Timing around mid afternoon to early evening.

1-2 inches of precipitation will be possible with some areas maybe getting upwards to 3". This is causing the potential for flash flooding later today.

 

 

Partly sunny here at the NewCath softball field.....tournament action started at 9:00 and goes all day. The rain we got overnight did the fields a great service, they are in beautiful condition.......yesterday it was like a dust bowl up here. LOL

Drove through this mess coming back from Louisville. Frankfort to Paris was brutal. Traffic going 35 on I-64 in spots.
