Mayfield averaged 46 points per game in 2016, and their opponents averaged 16 points per game against the Cardinals....and their schedule included wins over two 5A teams and a 6A team. Their only loss came in the semifinals against the 2A state champs - Christian Academy Louisville.

 

Aside from the obvious (beating CAL and getting to the 2A finals), it's hard to say what Mayfield could have done to improve on things.

Mayfield did everything expected of them for 13 weeks and may have been on their way to an A+ but one team was just a little better.

A-...I would have liked Mayfield's chances better if Arnett hadn't been ejected the week before on a helmet to helmet hit that doesn't call for an ejection in high school.
