Have a friend from Knott said that is first time ever that KCC has won district, is that true? Told her that was hard for me to believe. If so, who always comes out of that district and what are KCC's chances in region?

Whoever wins is going to have to take Estill down to do it. They've won it nearly every year they've been in the 14th region, which this marks the 12th year of their membership.

 

Estill is unique in that they actually play very few region games during the season, basically only the district ones that are required for seeding purposes. I suppose the reason is the long distance to places like Hazard, Knott, or Letcher. Therefore they end up playing a lot of the Bluegrass area schools. Their record is not usually better than the records of the top 2 or 3 teams in the region but when they get to the regional tournament their record is deceiving. Most of their losses are to very powerful teams in the Bluegrass or south central Kentucky, many that have large enrollments.

I would think they'll be the favorite again this year to win the championship.

They were suppose to play both Perry Central and Hazard this season but rain canceled both of those games. They were also suppose to play East Carter to begin the season but rain again canceled that game.

If Estill wins the region again this season then I don't see anyone beating them next season, they return nearly their entire team.

No. They played their district games (Lee, Owsley, Powell). Lee & Owsley 3 times and Powell twice and Breathitt County.
