Rookie Kyle McGrath who was just called up this weekend by the Padres is an interesting story. Graduate of Louisville Butler high school who went on to play at the University of Louisville and was drafted in the 36th round, 1077th overall, by the Padres in 2014. A lefty, his fastball maxes out around 86 and he relies on a good changeup and curveball to get hitters out. In the minors he compiled an era of 1.61 and averaged over 1 k per 9 innings out of the bullpen. He did give up a 2 run HR to Cozart tonight but he was interesting to watch with his herky jerky delivery. Shows you don't have to throw 100 mph to pitch in the league.
