Who are the preseason candidates for Miss Basketball?

I would consider 6'1 Lindsey Waters of McCreary Central.

Accurate free throws

20+ ppg, last year

All-time leading scorer in school history

Set records for most points in season, game, and career last season.

Rose Hill has two. Which will probably kill either's chances.

Emily Queen and Laura Terry listed in no particular order.

Emily will end her career with over 3000 points and I believe over 1200 rebounds.

Laura absolutely set Diddle Areana on fire last year during Rose Hill's State Tournament run. She will have around 2000 points when all is said and done.

Both girls were informed on Friday that they are McDonalds All American nominees. As for Emily, her varsity totals are as follows: 2311 points, 1194 rebounds.

Laura Terry is near the 1,700 point total so she should pass 2,000 before midseason. Emily Queen should pass 3,000 points and 1,500 rebounds later in the season. I agree with Rickyp that having two top candidates on the same team will hurt both of them with the voters. Also, being from the eastern end of the Commonwealth will be detrimental. The "Winchester Wall" is rarely crossed.

Do you think Emily will get 6 rebounds this year?:D

If she rebounds like her dad shoots layups, it could be a problem.

She's a nice 12th Region ballplayer, but not on the same level as the two Rose Hill girls, to name a couple.

I can't argue with that.

Lex. Cath. also has several nice players who will be in the hunt. Please pardon me for not remembering their names. Their post player in particular.

Novesel is ag ood wing player and Snowden and green are two fine guards.

Scott County returns UNC signee Rebecca Gray.

I was thinking of Novesel. I have not seen Gray but UNC doesn't sign any bad ones.

IMO it's Gray's to lose.

InDaZone is probably correct. However, if Scott County loses again to LexCath in the regional tournament, which is most likely, it could hurt her chances.

Scott County and Rose Hill will be participating in the Shoot For A Cure Shootout at Bellarmine University on January 6, 2007. Sadly, the two teams do not face one another, but it will still be an opportunity for all interested parties to see the three girls on the same floor.
