Five Came Back; Netflix series

Recently released series about five great directors -- John Huston, John Ford, Frank Capra, George Stevens, and William Wyler -- that volunteered for military service at the start of World War II, opting to serve while at the height of their fame and power in Hollywood. Was just an outstanding series.

 

Also discovered after watching that Netflix has up some of the films they made for the War Department including several parts of Capra's "Why We Fight" series, William Wyler's "The Memphis Belle", and Huston's "Let There Be Light".

 

Can't recommend this series enough. Some amazing footage and absolutely remarkable stories about the work they did and the people they met while filming for the War Department.

I finished the series last night. Absolutely fantastic. Lo and behold, many of their WWII documentaries on Netflix were recommended to me this evening when I pulled up my Netflix account.
