Norfolk Tides (Baltimore) 20-26 at Columbus Clippers(Cleveland)19-26

 

It has been a pitching battle so far.

Norfolk's Mike Wright 2-4 4.13 ERA entered the third with a shutout, while giving up zero hits.

In the third he hit a batter, walked another and gave up a two run double to,Richie Shaffer (7), that gave Columbus a 2-0 lead.

 

For Columbus Michael Peoples 2-3 4.82 ERA entered the fourth, with a shutout going, allowing just two hits.

In the fourth so far he has given up a double to, Chris Dickerson and then a two run home run to,Johnny Giavotella, that locked this one up at two.

He then gave up a double to Pedro Alvarez.

A fielders choice and a rare error on a throw by,Giovanny Urshela allows a run to score and the Tides are up 3-2.

Mike Yastrzemski gets a RBI(14) single to make this a 4-2 game.

Drew Dosch(Canal Winchester) makes it a 5-2 game, with a double.

Chris Dickerson gets his 2nd double of the inning, this one scores two and we now have a 7-2 game.

Johnny Giavotella gets his 3rd RBI of the inning, with a sac fly and this now is a 8-2 game.

After back to back walks,Chance Sisco gets a RBI single and this becomes a 9-2 game.

 

Norfolk Top of the 6th

Chris Dickerson singles and then a walk to Johnny Giavotella puts two on with zero outs.

Pedro Alvarez homers (9) on a line drive to right field. Chris Dickerson scores. Johnny Giavotella scores.

12-2 Tides leading.

 

Columbus in the bottom of the sixth

With the bases loaded Ronny Rodriguez RBI to make it a 12-3 game.

 

Top of the ninth

Drew Dosch(Canal Winchester with a two run bomb and this is a 14-3 game.

 

Tide 14-3 winners.

Memphis Redbirds(St. Louis) 13 Sacramento River Cats(San Francisco) 3

 

Memphis trailed 2-1 and then scored eleven runs in three innings to put this one away.

 

Carson Kelly,Paul DeJong and Harrison Bader all went yard for the Redbirds.

Kelly and DeJong each had 2 RBI.

Nick Martini did one better for the winners by knocking in three runs.

Patrick Wisdom and Todd Cunningham each had 2 RBI.

Wilfredo Tovar and Bader had the other RBI for the winners.

 

For Sacramento

Orlando Calixte had a home run and 2RBI

Ryder Jones had the other RBI.

After listening to three games last night, I am back at ut again today.

 

Delmarva Shorebirds(Baltimore) 18-28 at Lakewood BlueClaws(Phillies) 28-20

 

Delmarva strikes like lighting, with a run in the opening inning.

Cole Billingsley singles to open the game and then comes around the score on a double from Preston Palmeiro.

 

Delmarva pushes another run across in the third.

Jake Ring singles and comes around to score on a double(9) by,Preston Palmeiro and this is a 2-0 game.

 

Delmarva Top of the 6th is lighting up the scoreboard once again.

Chris Clare singles on a line drive to center fielder Carlos Duran.

Frank Crinella singles on a ground ball to third baseman Luke Williams. Chris Clare to 3rd.

Daniel Fajardo doubles (3) on a fly ball to right fielder Cord Sandberg. Chris Clare scores. Frank Crinella to 3rd. (3-0)

Alejandro Juvier homers (2) on a fly ball to right field. Frank Crinella scores. Daniel Fajardo scores.(6-0)

 

Delmarva gets another run in the seventh.

Lexington Legends(Royals) 2 Columbia Fireflies(Mets) 1 7Innings

 

Pitching ruled game two of the double header between these two.

Lexington (24-26) used a strong outing by,Andre Davis (W, 4-2) 7 Innings 5 hits 1 earned run 0 walks 11 strike outs to get the win.

 

Kort Peterson and Manny Olloque had the RBI for Lexington.

 

Tim Tebow went 0-5 in the double header with 5 strike outs. His average falls to .221.

Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox) 25-22 @ Greensboro Grasshoppers (Miami) 27-21

 

This one had been scoreless but in the top of the third,Seby Zavala doubled (3) and then came around to score on a Max Dutto single.

Starting on the mound for the Grasshoppers is Dustin August Beggs (Kentucky) 3-3 2.44 ERA.

1-0 After 2 1/2 Intimidators.

 

The Intimidators are back at it again in the fourth.

Micker Adolfo walks.

Zach Remillard singles to pit two on and zero outs.

Brandon Dulin homers (7) to center, to make this a 4-0 game.

Seby Zavala homers (10) to left and this is a 5-0 game.

 

 

In the bottom of the fifth

Alex Jones hits a ball to the warning track to center field. Joel Booker has the ball come out of his glove and bounce off of the right fielder,Micker Adolfo arm and then go over the wall for a solo home run. 5-1

 

Reilly Hovis 2-4 5,35 ERA(Career in the minors/just one season) is on to throw the sixth for the Grasshoppers.

 

Top of the sixth and Kannapolis is at it again.

Brandon Dulin hit by pitch.

Seby Zavala singles on a line drive to center fielder Aaron Knapp. Brandon Dulin to 2nd.

Joel Booker walks and the bases are juiced.

Jameson Fisher triples (4) on a ground ball to right fielder Walker Olis. Brandon Dulin scores. Seby Zavala scores. Joel Booker scores.

Top of the seventh and there is a Pitching Change for the Grasshoppers: Chad Smith replaces Reilly Hovis.

 

Alec Hansen goes 7 innings for Kannapolis 15 strike outs, zero walks,5 hits and 1 earned run.

 

Bottom of the eighth and the Intimidators have a new pitcher on

Victor Diaz 0-0 0.00 ERA.

 

Top of the ninth and the new pitcher for the grasshoppers is

Ryley MacEachern (SUNY Stony Brook) 2-2 5.52 ERA.

Bowling Green Hot Rods(Tampa Bay) 5 Lake County Captains (Indians) 3

 

Lake County jumped out in front in the opening inning, on a Conner Capel (7) solo home run.

 

The Hot Roads though responded with a three spot in the bottom half of the first.

Lucius Fox walked and the swiped 2nd base(10) to open thing up.

Rene Pinto strikes out swinging. Passed ball by catcher Li-Jen Chu. Lucius Fox to 3rd. Jesus Sanchez to 2nd. Rene Pinto to 1st and the flood gates had been opened.

Miles Mastrobuoni doubles (5) to clear the bases, that were loaded to make it a 3-1 game after one.

 

Bowling Green tacked on two more in the bottom of the third, to take a four run lead.

Miles Mastrobuoni singled with two out and then a two run bomb by Adrian Rondon(3) made it a 5-1 game.

 

The scored stayed that way until the top of the eighth.

Conner Capel walked to get things started.

Jorma Rodriguez singled.

Li-Jen Chu walked to load the bases.

Gavin Collins doubled(1) to make it a 5-3 game.

The next three Lake County batters struck out and the scored would stay and in 5-3.

 

5-3 Bowling Green wins.

Bryan Reynolds singled to put two on with one out.

Aramis Garcia singled to load the bases.

With two outs Dillon Dobson(Appalachian State) doubles (8) to clear the bases and makes this a 3-0 Giant lead.

 

In the bottom of the third the Giants tacked on one more run, to go up 4-0.

Aramis Garcia singled on a line drive to left fielder Logan Taylor.

Dillon Dobson reached on a fielding error by left fielder Logan Taylor. Aramis Garcia scores. Dillon Dobson to 3rd.

 

4-0 after three.

 

Modesto strikes for three in the top of the fourth.

Joey Curletta walked.

Logan Taylor homered (5) and we had a 4-2 game.

Arturo Nieto and Joe DeCarlo to put two on with one out.Braden Bishop singled to load the base.

Jordan Cowan reaches on a force attempt, fielding error by first baseman Dillon Dobson. Arturo Nieto scores. Joe DeCarlo to 3rd. Braden Bishop to 2nd.

Two solo homers puts Modesto up 5-4.

Columbus Clippers 6(Indians) Louisville Bats 5

 

I watched this on on Spectrum sports yesterday.

 

Columbus had a 5-2 lead at one time, but the Bats made the Clippers work hard to escape this one with a win.

 

The following players had RBI for the Clippers.

RBI: Shaffer (44); Papi (11); Stamets (18); Urshela (27).

 

For the Bats

HR: Wallach (4)

RBI : Vincej (6); Winker 2 (33); Wallach (9); Sweeney (3)

Pitching match up

Columbus Mike Clevinger 3-1 1.50 ERA

Indians Tyler Eppler 4-2 3.30 ERA

 

Abraham Almonte(1) Goes yard to put Columbus up 1-0 after 1/2 inning.

 

Eric Wood plates two(25 RBI) to give the Indians a 2-1 lead, after two innings of play.

 

Austin Meadows doubles (15) scores three, in the bottom of the fourth, to put the Indians up 5-1.

 

Nellie Rodriguez homers (7) to make this a 5-2 game after 5 1/2.

 

Joey Terdoslavich and Erich Weiss both drive in runs to make this a 7-2 Indy lead.Eric Wood makes it 9-2, with a two out 2 RBI hit, after eight.

 

Richie Shaffer homers (13) connects for a solo homer run in the ninth and this cuts the Indy lead to 9-3.Columbus was trying to get the weekend sweep.

Columbus Clippers(Indians) 7 Gwinnett Braves 6

This one turned out to be one of the better games I have listened to this season.

 

Eric Stamets homers (7) to make it 1-0 Columbus after two.

 

Ozzie Albies homers (4) to tie it back up at one, in the top of the third.

 

Eric Stamets homers (8) to put Columbus back up 2-1 to the one after four,

 

Tyler Naquin homers (2) and the Clippers had a 3-1 lead, after five innings of play.

 

The Braves came back with five in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead.

Carlos Franco doubles (3) on a line drive to left fielder Chris Colabello. Jace Peterson scores. Dustin Peterson scores. Matt Tuiasosopo scores and this was a 4-3 Braves lead.

Kyle Kubitza out on a sacrifice fly to center fielder Tyler Naquin. Carlos Franco scores and it was a 5-3 Braves lead.

Xavier Avery singled a run it and this was a 6-3 Braves lead.

 

Eric Stamets homers (9) another solo shot, his third of the game to make this a 6-4 game after six.

 

Richie Shaffer homers (15) on a fly ball to left center field. Joe Sever scores and this one was locked up at six. Shaffer now leads the International league in home runs.

 

 

Columbus would get the win in the bottom of the ninth, on a Chris Colabello double (10)

 

Final 7-6 Columbus.

Columbus Clippers (Indians) 3 Toledo Mudhens(Detroit) 2 14 innings

 

Toledo (32-40) jumped out to a 1-0 lead, after their first at bat.Brendan Ryan doubled (10) and then came around to score on a Efren Navarro base hit.

 

The game remained 1-0 until Columbus(38-35) came up in the home half of the sixth inning.

Erik Kratz homered (11) to tie it up 1-1. Kratz will play everyday now because of an injury to to the other Columbus catcher, Adam Moore. The two had been sharing time.

 

There would be no more scoring until the top half of the 13th. Catcher Bryan Holaday homered (5) to give Toledo a 2-1 lead.

 

Columbus locked things up at 2-2 in the bottom of the inning.

Nellie Rodriguez doubled (9)

Pitch hitter Chris Colabello singled to put runners on the corner.

Josh Wilson was hit by pitch to load the bases.

Tyler Naquin hit into a force play but a run scored to tie it back up.

 

In the bottom of the 14th Eric Stamets homered (10) on a fly ball to left field., to give the home team the win.

 

Stamets, from Dublin has been hot with the long ball as of late. He had struggle for most of the season.

Columbus Clippers (Indians) 4 Toledo Mudhens(Detroit) 1

 

The Clippers got 6 2/3 innings from Jarrett Grube (W, 3-3) to post the win today. Grube, who the Indians just traded to get back last week, gave up three hits, o earned runs, walked two and struck out five.

 

Joe Colon (S, 6) struck two of three out in the ninth to pick up the save.

 

Richie Shaffer blasted a three run homer to provide all the offense they needed. The homer was number 17 on the year.

 

Giovanny Urshela homered for the sixth time this season, to provide Columbus with their fourth and final run.

 

Anthony Vasquez (L, 2-5) to the loss for Toledo.

Michael Almanzar knocked in the only Toledo run.

Toledo Mudhens(Tigers)3 Columbus Clippers(Indians)2

 

The Mudhens no matter how good or how bad have always been a pain in the side of the Clippers and this year has been more of the same.

 

Toledo (36-42) scored single runs in the first, fifth and sixth and then relied on pitching and defense to post the one run win.

 

Jim Adduci and Jason Krizan had RBI for the winners.

 

Jarrett Grube (L, 3-4) gave up one earned run in this one. Columbus had three large errors that directly led to two runs and the loss.

 

Erik Kratz had both of the RBI for the Clippers(41-38), as he seen his total RBI grow to 22 on the season, while his batting average now stands at .304.

 

Anthony Vasquez (W, 3-5) posted the when, while former Cleveland Indian Edward Mujica (S, 6) picked up the save.

 

I watched his one on Spectrum sports channel.
