renton Thunder(Yankees) 18-10 Akron RubberDucks(Indians) 11-16

 

Akron had a 2-0 lead after five.

Dorssys Paulino hit into a double play in the 2nd and the first run scored for the RubberDucks.

Joe Sever homers (1) a solo shot to give Akron a 2-0 game.

 

In the eighth Trenton scored three runs to take the lead at 3-2.

Zack Zehner triples (3) to drive in two and then Billy McKinney doubled (4) in the third run.

 

In the bottom of the eighth Akron got a two run bomb from,Bobby Bradley homers (6) to account for the games final runs and give Akron the 4-3 win.

Columbus Clippers (Indians) 13

Durham Bulls(Tampa Bay) 9 11 innings

 

What a game.

It was tied at three after ten innings of play, then the two teams combined for a sixteen run eleventh inning.

 

The Bulls led 2-0 after four.

Johnny Field homered (3) in the first to make it 1-0.

Johnny Field doubled (2) in the third to make it 2-0.

 

The Clippers got a three run bomb from Richie Shaffer homers (8) to give the Clippers a 3-2 lead after four and one half innings of play.

 

The Bulls tied it in the bottom of the sixth on a Shane Peterson RBI sing.

 

Neither team scored until the eleventh.

Columbus scoring.

Erik Gonzalez triples (3) in two.

Daniel Robertson singled in one.

Bradley Zimmer singled in one.

Ronny Rodriguez walked to drive in one.

Jordan Smith singled in one.

Giovanny Urshela hit a grand slam (2) to drive in four.

 

Durham Bottom of the 11th.

Mallex Smith drives in one.

Jake Bauers walked to drive in one.

Patrick Leonard hit a grand slam (4) to drive in the last four.

Columbus Clippers(Indians) 5 Gwinnett Braves(Atlanta) 2

 

Columbus was able to take this one on the road,with some soundly hitting a good pitching.

 

The Braves opened up the scoring in the very first inning.

Ozzie Albies single to get things moving.

Albies steals (10) 2nd base.

Mel Rojas got the RBI on a sac fly.

 

The Clippers locked it up in the top of the 2nd, on a Erik Kratz homer (5).

 

Columbus scored two in their half of the fifth.

Bradley Zimmer homers (5)a two run shot, to make this a 3-1 Columbus lead.

 

The Braves made it 3-2 with the run scoring on a,Anthony Recker homer (2)in the bottom of the fifth.

 

The final two runs in this contest came from Columbus, in the sixth inning.

Erik Kratz triples (1) the first run in. The veteran catcher had a nice game with the stick. Kratz scored on a wild pitch, to complete the scoring.

Florence Freedom (1-0-0) At Gateway Grizzlies (0-1-0)

 

Florence took a 1-0 lead in the first on a single by Andre Mercurio(San Jose St University)

 

Gateway tied it in the third on a sac fly by, Cody Livesay(Anna-Jonesboro High School) He was originally drafted by the Braves out of Anna-Jonesboro High School in the 42nd round of the 2011 MLB Draft.

 

Florence retook the lead in the fifth on a single by Mercurio,

 

Florence tacked on another run in the sixth, to up the lead to 3-1. The run scored on a home run by Jordan Brower( Azusa Pacific University)

Lake Erie Crushers 1-1 at Joliet Slammers 1-1

 

The Crushers get on the scoreboard first on a two run bomb by Sean Hurley (Central Arizona College) in the bottom of the 2nd.Parker Norris(Ouachita Baptist University) makes it 3-0 with a two out RBI single.

 

Sean Hurley made it 6-0 with a three run bomb in the bottom of the third. This was his 2nd bomb of the game and his 2nd bomb of the young season.

 

With 2 on and one out Alexander Rodriguez(: Methodist University)doubles to left scoring one on the play, to make this a 6-1 game in the seventh.

 

With two on and one out in the eighth Edwin Gomez(Detroit Tiger Draft pick in 2009) gets a base hit and scores one to make it 6-2. Then Melvin Rodriguez(Jackson State University) makes it a 6-3 game with a RBI single.

 

6-3 Lake Erie with the win.

El Paso Chihuahuas (San Diego) 10 Colorado Springs Sky Sox(Brewers) 5

El Paso fell behind 2-0 after 1 1/2 innings of play, then exploded to score the next ten run. They would give up three more runs before winning 10-5.

 

El Paso Chihuahuas hot bombs from Jabari Blash, Carlos A. Asuaje and Christian Villanueva.The trio combined for seven RBI.

 

Diego Goris had 2 RBI. The final RBI came from Rocky Gale.

 

Colorado Springs

Kyle Wren and Yadiel Rivera had homers.

The pair combined for 4 RBI.

The final RBI came from Ryan Cordell.

Indianapolis Indians(Pittsburgh) 5 Columbus Clippers(Indians) 1

 

The Indians used a four run third to put the Clippers away in game one of their double header.

 

Chris Bostick hit a long ball for the winners.

Max Moroff had two RBI.

 

For Columbus it was more of the same no hitting and poor pitching.

 

Giovanny Urshela (3) hit a bomb for the Clippers.

Game two of the double header was much like the first.

The Indians(18-18) scored 9 runs, had 11 hits in the 7 inning game.

Jason Rogers had 3 RBI.

Phil Gosselin had 2 RBI

 

Columbus(17-21) once again had no pitching and less hitting.

The Bats get the winning run on a RBI by,Brandon Dixon in the bottom of the seventh.

Dixon went 1-3 and is hitting .233 on the season.

 

Jackson Stephens(3-3) got the win by going the distance.

He allowed seven hits, walked zero. He struck out three.

 

Ryan Merritt (3-5) took the lost. He to went the distance.

The Bats scored four time in the fourth and then held on for the win.

Columbus scored singles runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th, to make this a close game.

Oklahoma City Dodgers(L.A.Dodgers) 5

El Paso Chihuahuas(San Diego) 4 10 Innings

 

This one was tight through out the contest and need one extra inning before things were settled.

 

The Dodgers scored the winning run on a Jack Murphy single in the top half of the tenth. That would be the only RBI for Murphy in this one.

 

Dodgers had a home run from Willie Calhoun, a solo shot.

Hagerstown Suns(Washington)27-20 at West Virginia Power(Pittsburgh)21-21

 

Game 1 of a seven inning double header

 

The suns wasted no time in getting out to the lead, in their first at bat.

Daniel Johnson Jr.(New Mexico State) blasted his tenth home run of the season, a solo shot to give the road team a 1-0 lead.

 

West Virginia would only score two runs in this, both in the third but it would be enough, to give them the win.

 

Adrian Valerio and Ty Moore both had RBI in the inning.

 

 

 

 

2-1 Final with West Virginia winning.
