A lot can change between now and October 15, but I wanted to look at some early predictions for next year. Would love some feedback. I have followed the 11th Region for many years and as always it is loaded with talent. Throw in the new Douglass High School and things get even more interesting. Here are my ratings for next season:

 

1) Scott County- Just too much! Return almost everyone (except Watts- who will be missed). Should be pre season number 1 in the state.

2) LCA- A lot of size. Lose a couple of shooters, still have plenty, but maybe won't matter if you are getting every rebound. Speed still a concern here.

3) Mad Central- Cozart. Nice role players around him as well. Well coached.

4) Lex Cath- Payne. Always in the mix. Give Salsman credit.

5) Bryan Station- Disappointing season, but return possibly best back court.

6) Lafayette- Not sure about this one yet. Dreux nice guard.

7) Dunbar- because why not. Chalk. They will be up there.

8) H. Clay- Keaston Brown, Green and Mitchell. Maybe should be higher.

9) Franklin- Stewart is so tough. Wise always has them prepared for post season.

10) Sayre- Lose great Sr class, but return tough Jr group. Can they repeat?

11) Frankfort- maybe one of more athletic teams in region

12) M. Southern- lose a lot, but Butry always has them tough

13) Woodford- Coach has stepped in and done well replacing Hundley. Could be higher

14) Douglass- ??????

15) Model- Scarberry one of better coaches.

16) T Creek- Young talent has to prove it. Could be dangerous

17) W Hills- big man (name?) one of top players in region, again could be higher

18) Berea- much improved program, but lost lots of players last 2 years.

 

Thoughts??

I agree with 1-4 and probably in that order. The rest of the region will be a push and shove match to be sorted out.

 

I can't speak for anybody else, but I do know a little about Madison Central. They are returning 93% of the offense from last year and should have a good group of seniors who saw a great deal of time and production as juniors. Add to that, Cozart (State shot block record holder) and Blake Muntz, both got lots of playing time as sophomores and it should be a nice group. A solid summer of work, they have players playing for the Magic, Hoop Dreams, and Matts Mustangs and another year of experience, and things seem to be looking good for the Indians next year. They also have an eight grader, Kole Brown, who played JV this year, who possibly could get some Varsity minutes next year.

If nothing happens the region should be Scott's to lose the next two years a big unknown factor is the new school in Lexington who goes there could be bad for a while or very good next season.

It's been 2 days since the season ended. Give my brain a chance to refresh and reload and I'll take a shot at this haha.

Unless Scott County brings in a recruit no way they are #1 in the state. They have no point guard play, Robb is not a point guard and will miss watts inside to go alongside Moreno.

 

Nothing against Robb he is a great player and has a ton of heart, but seems he is playing point guard out of necessity when he would be better off playing off the ball if they had a true point guard.

 

Fern Creek is #1 in the state pre season and Trinity is #2.

Fern Creek loses Chance Moore 6' 6" 15 pts 5 reb a game, Daiquan Jones 6' 6" starter and Kyree Hawkins a guard who played a lot. . Wales, Rogers, and Price return and Clint Wickliffe the returning big 6' 4" are a very good core but they are losing the top scorer and top rebounder and rim protector. They will be good and I would put Wales against any PG in the state but they won't be pre season #1.

 

Not sure where Scott will shake out to start the season, but I am betting, they will be very close to the top and the 11th will be well represented in the top 25 as they always are.

 

But like @mooremiller31 says, it is way early.
