Heard it's down to those "couple of assistants from the area".

If that is true about area assistants, seems quite ridiculous with the experienced coaches that applied. Would be a tough job for a first time head coach.

I have to agree with you. There were many veteran coaches with outstanding resumes apply for this position. I know of a couple.

 

The TC job is more than coaching the high school team. (Which most 1st time head coach are only concerned with) Right now the position requires a coach to change the culture surrounding the program. It will take a coach with experience to accomplish that.
