Bishop Brossart 64 Bellevue 48

Mustangs win tenth of the season against the visiting Bellevue Tigers.

Like ourselves, the Black and Gold Tigers have a lot of young talent and will be heard from in NKAC Division III play next year.

Brett Maehren, a 6'3" junior point guard led the Tigers with 19 points, and did a great job getting to the rim and rebounding. Sophomore Tommy Ratterman, who lit us up for 27 points earlier this season added 10. They also start Sophomores Will Ryan and Daniel Hill.

The Mustangs shot out to a 7-0 lead to start the game and then extended the lead to 15-4 and then 25-10. To Bellevue's credit they chipped away at the lead until it was a five point contest at 42-37 with 1:06 to play in the third quarter, when the Mustangs finished out the period on a 5-0 run to re-establish a ten point cushion and then went on to win 64-48.

While it didn't have the feel that we were shooting light's out, we managed to knock down 10 long-range bombs for the outing.

Sophomore Bryan Duffy led the Mustangs with 15 points, Junior Zach Hamberg added 13 and Junior guard Bryce Donnelly 11 as the Mustangs improve to 10-16, after a 1-8 start..

The Mustangs will host Jake Ohmer and the Scott Eagles on Brossart Seniors Night this coming Friday in Alexandria. Campbell County defeated the Eagles 57-55 earlier this season, leaving the Brossart - Scott 37th District seeding clash rather meaningless as Campbell County will be the top seed regardless of the outcome and the Mustangs/Scott will play a rematch of this Friday's game in the semi-finals of the 37th District Tournament.
