I don't know any Republican who had a problem with Hillary Clinton having a private phone or email account. Most of us had a problem with her using a private phone and email server to evade Freedom of Information Act requests, to conduct government business, and to illegally store and transfer classified documents.

 

You are the wrong spokesperson to make the case of moral equivalency between Trump and Hillary's use of private property. Trump may abuse his right to own and use private property in the future, but there is no evidence that he has done so. If he does, I will be the last person to defend him.

Is there any evidence that Trump is using his personal phone improperly? If not, no I don't expect that he will turn it over in response to a FOIA request because he is not legally required to do so.

 

Unlike Hillary Clinton, Trump will maintain a government email account, just like almost every single federal employee and contractor does.

 

However, if a court with the proper jurisdiction issues a subpoena ordering Trump to produce evidence from his private phone or email account, I will expect and demand that he comply with all lawful court orders.

 

Furthermore, if Trump becomes aware that one of his cabinet members does not have an official government email address (within days after getting confirmed by the Senate) for conducting official business, then I expect him to immediately nominate her replacement. I do not want this administration to condone criminal behavior the way that the Obama administration did.
