Analog or digital recordings?

Featured Replies

Analog sounds way better because the sound waves are actually "rounded" real waves... digital waves have hard, squared edges... so they lose some subtleties for sure...

But my answer: I prefer to listen to analog recordings...

But, I prefer to make digital recordings... far easier to edit and it still sounds really good...

Years ago, when I was working with a major label budget... we recorded drums and bass tracks with 2-inch analog tape and transferred it to digital where all other instruments, vocals , edits , etc could be done...

Digital software keeps improving, so no way I'd use 2-inch today...

Analog. I prefer to not have high ends and low ends clipped off by a computer.
