January 4, 20179 yr Trump just announced another high level administration appointee linked to Goldman Sachs. That is now four Goldman Sachs related appointees. Considering how much Goldman Sachs and big banks were talked about during the election I am wondering what people's thoughts are on all these Goldman Sachs appointees?
January 4, 20179 yr The challenge of campaign slogans....It's possible some of these folks are highly qualified. But... When you put an attorney who personally represented Wall Street banks as the head of SEC AFTER you banged on your opponent's connections to Wall Street...shots are going to come.
January 5, 20179 yr Author So quiet ... has any thread with Trump in the title been this quiet in the past year? I think there is a good discussion to be had here. Is there a legitimate concern about all these big bank appointees? Edited January 5, 20179 yr by Voice of Reason
January 5, 20179 yr Don't look at me I like Goldman Sachs I want the smartest people in finance in the adminstration. Goldman is painted as some sort of evil by some, I'd rather have them than college proffesors who hypothesize things instead of doing them. I despise Ben Bernake to this day.
January 5, 20179 yr Goldman definitely has strong influence and taking notice of their former guys (and gals) in key places is reasonable. Trump is definitely no fan of the Fed and Goldman-Sachs may be the only ones who have the talent and people to 'take on the Fed'. Here is a guy that may get the mission to address the Fed. http://www.cnbc.com/2017/01/03/john-allison-the-man-who-could-be-donald-trump-bank-chief.htm Appointing Allison as a Fed governor would carry some irony: A few months ago he told CNBC he would, at least theoretically, like to disband the U.S. central bank, though he knows it's not "doable in practice."
